Thief makes getaway on stolen bicycle A burglary was reported on the 2200 block of California Avenue S.W. around 1:30 p.m. on Tues., Sept. 6. The caller said a man with long, dark hair wearing a checkered flannel shirt and long pants broke into a shop and stole a bicycle. Staff in the store said the man had ridden east through a parking lot and then they lost sight of him. Officers searched the area but were unable to find the suspect. The store’s surveillance system did not work so there was no footage of the burglary. Officers were dispatched to the 4700 block of 41st Avenue S.W. for a call about a burglary around 2:20 p.m. on Tues., Sept. 6. The property manager said that around 3:30 a.m. on the previous day, three male suspects had gained entry to the lobby of the apartment building and stolen two postal packages.
