The man more severely injured was being worked on in the ambulance by Seattle Fire EMT's as the suspect in the stabbing near Orchard Street lay some 50 feet away, also bleeding severely from what Seattle Police say were self inflicted stab wounds to his thigh.

Shortly before 10pm on Tuesday Aug. 8 two men in their 30's, according to witnesses and police scanner traffic, got into an altercation that became a stabbing sending both men to Harborview Medical Center. Witnesses on the scene said a homeless man, 39 years old according to police scanner, got into a fight with another man, who was in a Range Rover SUV near the intersection of California Ave SW and SW Orchard Street. The SUV driver was slashed across his chest and into his shoulder according to eye witnesses and the homeless man suffered wounds to the thigh that were self inflicted according to police. The SUV driver was unconscious and was prepped on the scene by EMT's from the Seattle Fire Dept. and taken directly to surgery.
According to scanner traffic both patients were in stable condition although the primary victim was in critical condition when admitted.
Media reports and witnesses in the neighborhood say that the suspect is named Ryan Cox, who has previously been arrested for homophobic graffiti he painted and other incidents.
We will update this story if or when he is charged.
