I wanted an excellent Mexican dinner and a great margarita! I wanted an authentic place that would make me feel as if I had traveled south of the border. I didn't want some bungled attempt at Mexican cuisine. I wanted the real deal and I wanted it served in style! My date looked at me shouting out my demands and simply said, "Let's go to Puerto Vallarta in West Seattle." Ahhhhh Puerto Vallarta! This great family restaurant, established in 1992, met all my needs and then some. I sat down and quickly began taking in all the delicious meals they were serving around me. The tostadas, the enchiladas, the burritos, they all looked great. What was I going to get? This is not something I wanted to rush into so I ordered some Super Nachos (made with homemade chips) and a Cadillac Margarita while I perused the menu for my entree. After conferring with my waiter, who happened to be very helpful, I decided on ordering the Puerto Vallarta Burrito. This house favorite is a soft giant tortilla rolled around strips of chicken with beans, tomatoes, onions, cilantro, guacamole, jalapefios and topped with ranchero sauce. I took one bite and was instantly blown away. I quickly gloated to my date that I, once again, ordered the best thing on the menu. She reminded me that it was she who recommended the restaurant and that it was her meal that was the best. She had ordered the Camarones a la Plancha which is prawns and mushrooms sautted in butter and spicy red sauce with rice and beans. After persuading her to give me a bite I realized that all their entrees are probably fabulous. Puerto Vallarta has a huge menu that will satisfy any one's Mexican craving. Their margaritas are amazing and although it is hard to leave room for dessert I would definitely recommend trying some of their fried ice cream or flan off the dessert menu. My mission to find an excellent Mexican meal was a success. Puerto Vallarta is located at: 4727 Cal. Ave. S.W. 937-7335 ~f 20 or More A m _JO A w m_____00 I j, l o __[1.
